Rain Sticks!
Today for our monthly Make-It & Take-It craft program, we made rain sticks! We were pretty musical for about two hours this morning.
Here is a link with detailed instructions from which I based the technique for this craft: http://www.nationalschoolsupply.com/blog/a-fun-spring-craft-idea-rain-sticks/.
Hint: it is much easier to draw on the tube after it has been filled with the foil and rice, and the kids may need to press down a little bit harder with the crayons to make the colors pop.
Have fun!

Toilet Paper Roll Owls!
Want to make a cute and simple craft with the kids? Try making toilet paper roll owls!
After painting the roll whatever color you would like it to be (you don't have to pain it at all), the construction paper pieces are glued on from the bottom up, for each owl you will need:
After painting the roll whatever color you would like it to be (you don't have to pain it at all), the construction paper pieces are glued on from the bottom up, for each owl you will need:
- 1 heart shaped piece for the feet
- 14 little circles for the tummy (see photograph for how the maker laid theirs down)
- 1 triangle for the beak (fold in the middle about half way)
- 2 big white circles for eyeballs
- 2 smaller black circles for the eyes.
- Lastly, to make it seem like your owl is looking at something, you may poke a hole in the black circles or finish them off with a metallic silver sharpie. A regular silver sharpie might not show up as well.

Toilet Paper Roll Flower
Spring is only two days away!! Sure, outside doesn't feel like Spring at all yet, but inside you can decorate your room with a flower...made from toilet paper rolls! Click the link for a short tutorial: Toilet Paper Roll Flower
The tutorial itself doesn't have too may details, but here's an idea: In the picture it looks like there is a pompom in the center of the flower. If you decide to add a pompom you could give it a small spritz of perfume so your flower has a sweet spring smell!
