Ocean In a Bottle Experiment!
Good morning!
Have you been to the beach yet? Here is a fun experiment for you to do with your preschoolers today: make an ocean in a bottle!
Here is the link with full instructions: http://happyhooligans.ca/ocean-in-bottle/. The photo evidence is impressive, but watching the bubbles and waves move in person is definitely more fun. Enjoy!

Boats!
On your mark, get set, sail!
Let your children discover how many different ways they can build a boat that sails or floats. Which boat floats the best? Which boat sails the fastest?
Here is the link for full instructions: http://www.teachpreschool.org/2013/05/making-simple-boats-that-float/. Also, the book mentioned in the post, Little Tug by Stephen Savage, is a good book that my preschool story timer kids and I enjoyed reading. Enjoy!

Chalkboard Paint!
Anytime you get to make your own crafts to play with is always a good time. You can either make your own colorful chalkboard paint, or you can pick-up a small can of it from the hardware store for under $5.
Here is the link with detailed instructions: http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2012/02/how-to-mix-chalkboard-paint-in-any-color.html#. The text formatting is a little bit off, but there are plenty of photos along the way for you to get the idea of how to do this craft. Enjoy!

Bouncy Balls!
Here's a neat craft for kids to go bonkers over: bouncy balls! Plus, this is perfect weather for fun crafts like this one, indoor or out!
Although I do strongly advise that puppies should not be allowed to take part in this craft, they might mistake it for being edible. Those silly pooches!

Firework Painting!
Want to make something bright and fun with the kids? Why not try creating a firework painting?!
They will get to mix colors, play with straws, and have a blast making fireworks. Here is the link with detailed instructions: http://www.mykidsadventures.com/paint-fireworks/. This is a lengthy process because it involves painting on construction paper. If you want to expedite the process, I guess you could get a package of watercolor paper for a reasonable price and paint your background first, let that dry for a few minutes, and then start painting your fireworks.
If you do try this craft, please share with us how it turned out!

Homemade Bubbles!
Try making homemade bubbles!
Here is the link with detailed instructions: http://myfrugaladventures.com/2013/06/30-days-to-a-funner-summer-how-to-make-giant-homemade-bubbles/.
I was at a birthday party recently, and I forgot how much fun it is to make and play with bubbles at any age! However, I have noticed that if you are using glycerin in your mixture the results are better if you let the recipe sit overnight (about 8-12 hours).
Enjoy!

Lava Lamp!
Do you have extra materials left over from a baking or cooking experiment and don't know what to do for a simple yet fun craft with the kids? Why not try making a science themed lava lamp using just four ingredients from the kitchen?!
This is a pretty neat and simple science experiment that involves color and bubbles! I made one of these last year, and they really are easy to make but more fun to watch!
However, I do recommend using a jar or a bottle that has the ability to be more air tight than a peanut butter jar, because messes like to accompany most experiments without fail.
So, here is the link with full instructions: http://www.123homeschool4me.com/2014/05/fun-things-for-kids-make-lava-lamp.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed:+123homeschool4me/WkbE+%28123+Homeschool+4+Me%29&m=1

Rain Clouds in a Jar
Well, April showers are over with but it looks like May is still going to have quite a bit of rain. Rain Clouds in a Jar is more of an experiment than a craft, but a fun way to see sort of how clouds work! Follow the link for a full tutorial: Rain Clouds in a Jar Tutorial.

Ice Mandala
Here is a really "cool" craft that takes a little bit of patience, but the end results are really fun to see! To make ice mandalas you can use a disposable pie plate and almost anything you can think of for decorations. Follow the link to a brief tutorial and lots of great pictures for some ideas!
